People’s choice awards

The People’s Choice Awards (or “Purple” Choice Awards) is an annual event at the January Warm-Up tournament. Competitors get a chance to vote on other speakers and debaters in 10 different categories (best dressed team, favorite judge, and so forth). The results are announced Friday evening, where the winners will receive a prize. The ballots for voting will be available all Friday.

Team Impromptu Sales Pitch

Team Impromptu Sales Pitch is also an annual event at Houston tournaments. In the Team Impromptu Sales Pitch, 4 or 5 students are given a random object (i.e., a mountain dew can, roll of tape) and a few minutes to prepare a presentation in which they try to sell the object to the audience. All the students participating must be prepared to take a part and act in a crazy, undignified manner.

We would ask all clubs who are interested in participating to choose 4 or 5 students prior to coming to the tournament. At the tournament, please contact the tournament director the first day with the name of your club and the number of people participating.
